The Hakko FR872-03 is a versatile four-bank IR PCB preheater designed to elevate the temperature of printed circuit board assemblies, making it easier to solder and de-solder components with improved results. This preheater is particularly useful for medium to high-mass boards, which can dissipate a significant amount of energy when using a soldering iron tip or handheld hot air tool, especially in lead-free assemblies.
Featuring a low-profile bench-top design, the Hakko FR872-03 utilizes high-efficiency carbon filament IR heating lamps to provide a total effective heating area of 8.8" x 10.5" (224 mm x 266 mm). The heating area is divided into four independently controlled zones, allowing users to heat all of the board or only the necessary areas when reworking large boards. Conversely, unnecessary zones can be turned off when working on smaller boards, improving efficiency.
The preheater offers both manual and auto operation modes, with the auto mode following a customizable three-heating zone profile that can be programmed into the system with up to 20 possible profiles. The ramp control feature allows users to precisely control the ramp rate of the PCB when using thermocouple-based temperature control.
For enhanced safety and protection, the Hakko FR872-03 is equipped with soft EPO (Emergency Power Off) functionality and integration capabilities with the Hakko FR-803B hot air and FM-206 rework systems via a connecting cable.
